Construction student housing on Campus Woudestein has started

Rotterdam

On Wednesday, 23 November, alderman Schneider of Rotterdam officially gave the starting signal for the construction of 280 student apartments on Campus Woudestein in Rotterdam. These apartments were developed by Bond Development and Gebr. Blokland, and carried out by Cordeel.

Preceding the construction, numerous parties were involved in the development. As commercial manager Sander Dekker remarks: “We can look back on a pleasant collaboration during the preliminary phase. This is promising for the further realisation, allowing us to complete the student housing complex after the summer of 2017.” Alderman Schneider considers the housing complex an asset for the city of Rotterdam: “This is good for the city and good for the students who want to study here. We are pleased that there will extra student housing in the city of Rotterdam.”

Upon realisation of the student housing complex, XIOR Student Housing will take over the project from Cordeel and rent the apartments out to students. Considering its location, it is to be expected that primarily students of Campus Woudestein will be making use of the apartments. The apartments have an average living area of 22 m².

For Cordeel, this is the second construction project for students in Rotterdam. Earlier, it realised the first phase of The Student Hotel on Oostzeedijk. Coincidentally, this was also a Bond Development project.
